Finding Villa Florentine is easier said than done even with their helpful set of directions. Most of the land marks you are told to find are not sign posted, or if they are, the identification is well hidden. The basic configuration if you are coming from Paris, is that you will exit the autoroute as you exit the first tunnel. The exit (sortie FOURVIERE) is on your immediate right. Then stay in the middle of the three exit lanes where they immediately come to a traffic light with the river bank straight ahead and on the right. It is the Soane river, not the Rhone. You then drive along the river for about half a kilometer.

You will go past the Palais de Justice (not named but a Greek style building on the left), stay in the left lane or you will find yourself on a one way route across the river as we did twice!. Go as far as the bridge Pont de LA FEUILLEE which will be on your right, you stay on the left, and turn left towards the station Gare SNCF SAINT-PAUL . When you turn left into the square in front of the "Gare" (station) the Montée Saint Barthélémy is the little lane on the far left of the station facade. You can only see the sign posting once you are actually on street itself. It is one way, so proceed with caution or you will have a perfectly lovely tour of the old town before you can get back! We know. The quai road (which changes names at frequent intervals) is one way north on the east bank and once way south on the other (east) bank.

Arrivé à proximité de LYON, prendre la première petite sortie juste après le tunnel de FOURVIERE :

Sortie  " VIEUX LYON ". Longer les quais de SAONE (la SAONE est sur votre droite). Passer devant la cathédrale SAINT-JEAN et l'ancien Palais de Justice. Au niveau du pont " LA FEUILLEE " situé sur votre droite, tourner à gauche en face, direction : " Gare SNCF SAINT-PAUL ". Prendre la " Montée SAINT-BARTHELEMY " à gauche de la gare.

Arrivé à proximité de LYON, prendre la sortie " LA MULATIERE " juste avant  " LYON CENTRE ". Prendre direction : " LYON PAR LES QUAIS DE SAONE (QUAI ROUSSEAU). Arrivé dans le centre, longer toujours les quais. Passer devant la Cathédrale SAINT-JEAN, puis devant l'ancien Palais de Justice. 300 M après, au niveau du pont " LA FEUILLEE ", situé sur votre droite, tourner à gauche, direction : Gare SNCF SAINT-PAUL. Prendre la " Montée SAINT-BARTHELEMY " à gauche de la gare.

Arrivé à proximité de LYON, prendre direction  " BOULEVARD PERIPHERIQUE NORD ". Sur le boulevard périphérique, sortir à :" PORTE DE SAINT-CLAIR ". Suivre les directions, " LYON CENTRE ", " place BELLECOUR ". Traverser la Presqu'île au niveau de la place BELLECOUR, traverser la SAONE puis tourner sur votre droite. Passer devant la Cathédrale SAINT-JEAN, le Palais de Justice. 300 M après, au niveau du pont " LA FEUILLEE " situé sur votre droite, tourner à gauche en face , direction : Gare SNCF SAINT-PAUL. Prendre la " Montée SAINT-BARTHELEMY " à gauche de la gare.

Arrivé à proximité de Lyon,  prendre la direction " LYON MERMOZ " et suivre " LYON CENTRE ". Traverser le RHONE, puis la presqu'île au niveau de la place BELLECOUR. Traverser la SAONE, puis tourner sur votre droite. Passer devant la Cathédrale SAINT-JEAN, l'ancien Palais de Justice. 300 M après, au niveau du pont " LA FEUILLEE " situé sur votre droite, tourner à gauche en face, direction Gare SNCF SAINT-PAUL. Prendre la  Montée  " SAINT-BARTHELEMY " à gauche de la gare.
