 A Carmel landmark, in an English country cottage, they serve "nursery" food - Scottish scones, jams, hot oat meal, steak pies, meatloaf. Great breakfasts, lunches and afternoon teas. Very popular so arrive early especially for breakfast. Lines form well in advance and the seating is limited.

Quail Lodge & Golf Club ****, Carmel Valley, CA, USA
 Located in the heart of the Carmel Valley, California, on the sunny side of Carmel-by-the-Sea on the spectacular Monterey Peninsula, the Lodge is approximately 120 miles south of San Francisco and 330 miles north of Los Angeles. It reopened in April 2013 following an extensive renovation of its guest accommodations and public spaces. As well as the world class golf course, it is a lovely inn and hotel that includes 77 guest rooms and 14 suites. The decor is a combination of clean, modern, frills free clarity and  "Craftsman" furniture. It sports hardwood floors and most rooms and all the suites have their own a balcony or patio.
A great new chef, Ken MacDonald, world traveler but once from Scotland, has joined the kitchen and is producing superbly garden fresh cuisine at "Edgar's" the restaurant.

 Great new find in Carmel Valley Village. Italian, French and California blend that sits very comfortable on the palate. South of the border ambiance. New Executive Chef Anna Marie Bayonito has brought a fading menu back to full strength with her talent and sophisticated cuisine. Great wines from owner winery owned by the family Georis.

 One of the best hotel views over the Pacific in a charming, hillside hotel just a bit further south on the coast from Carmel-by-the-Sea, California. Fall asleep to the sound of the surf, all rooms with sea views. No restaurant, but expansive Continental breakfast and afternoon wine and cheese. Some rooms and suites with fireplaces.
